Three Trees (2025)

Acrylic on canvas
16 x 20

This work was created in our Chestnut Street studio (Mariemont, Ohio), and references sketches and views near the Overlook on Miami Bluff in Mariemont.

Miami Bluff runs along the southernmost edge of the Village of Mariemont – houses on the north side of the street, forest on the south – along the rim of a hill before descending down sharply and deeply to the Little Miami River which runs parallel to it below. This ridge, part of the historical Madisonville Site, is said to have been a possible Indian burial earthwork (similar to the Great Serpent Mound in Peebles, Ohio), remnants of the Fort Ancient culture and settlement there (AD 1450-1670).
